| NOW, WHAT ABOUT THAT OLD CHURCH? |
![]() If that little chapel could talk, it would have much to say. It would tell you how the first service was held in 1891 with [number in attendance] and how the congregation was mainly composed of Swedish folks who had come to work in the orange groves. Swedish settlers who came here to work in the groves established the church in 1891. The original building is pictured at right and was designated a historical site by the Seminole County Historical Association. This little white church was given the name SHEA CHAPEL in 1998 to honor Pastor Darwin Shea and his wife, Jeanne. The Sheas served the church for 27 years. So rich in tradition and simplicity, Shea Chapel is used today primarily for weddings, baptisms and funerals. |
